Many thousands of spectators enjoyed the new format Highlands 101 endurance race when it ran for the first time in 2013. With its modern take on the famous Le Mans running start and compulsory pit stops for the driver pairings.  This year's race becomes the Highlands 501, being a longer race of 501km and sees up to 42 race cars vie for the chequered flag.
The event features the Australian GT Championship finale with up to 30 GT cars and their drivers making the trans-Tasman journey to the Highlands' spectacular Central Otago location. For motorsport fans, the line-up of Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Aston Martins, McLarens, Porsches, Ginettas and Ascaris is hard to beat!
The weekend will feature a wonderful array of top class entertainment on and off the track, including a great range of fun kids’ activities on the top terrace, and as usual an amazing selection of food and refreshment vendors in key spectator areas.
A very special feature of the Highlands facility is the free buses operating around the full circuit, allowing families to experience our Jurassic Park-style adventure playground. What secret treasures and scary dinosaurs can you find in the Highlands Forest? It’s easy to get there – simply catch the Highlands bus which runs every 15 minutes right round the circuit providing access to all spectator areas and the adventure play area.
